So this is the true rooster grower.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Mario Tapia, Rooster owner and trainer\u003cbr/\u003eThe rooster is raised with special care.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's feathers are sprayed for extra lustre and protection.\u003cbr/\u003eFor months it is fed with special food and trained under a rigorous schedule.\u003cbr/\u003eThe cock spends 20 days in isolation before the fight, a practice believed to enhance its  sexual and fighting instinct.\u003cbr/\u003eThe day of the fight the roosters are weighed to find the perfect contender.\u003cbr/\u003eThe spurs are carefully chosen by an expert who then attaches them to the rooster's  legs.\u003cbr/\u003eThese will be the rooster's main weapons during the fight.\u003cbr/\u003eBetting takes place before the roosters are taken to the arena by either the owner  himself or an agent. \u003cbr/\u003eCockfights have been harshly criticised by many who claim it should not be considered  a sport because of the cruel treatment of the animals.\u003cbr/\u003eCritics say cockfights are just the hobby of drunk men looking for ways to boost their  macho egos.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd for the winner it is indeed an ego boost.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Spanish)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Truly, these are the emotions of a rooster trainer.
