are the scrap metal sculptures that adorn Buenos Aires' main train yard. \u003cbr/\u003eThe creator is Carlos Regazzoni, an Argentine offbeat sculptor who began hammering the castoff debris of the main Buenos Aires train line into art 25 years ago -  using an abandoned railway warehouse as his studio. \u003cbr/\u003eRegazzoni's work includes a giant Iguana whose 'skin' is a mesh of rusty chains and bolts. \u003cbr/\u003eThen there are other sculptures built from old, flattened typewriters and cash registers scavenged from the surroundings of the Retiro train station. \u003cbr/\u003eAt the beginning of the last century, railways were built to pack Argentina's cattle off to European markets. \u003cbr/\u003eThat trade helped to make the South American country one of the world's ten wealthiest. \u003cbr/\u003eBut most recently, Argentina has fallen on hard times and a series of economic crises culminating in the economic crash of 2001, have left and estimated 40 per cent of its population in poverty. \u003cbr/\u003eThat downturn left plenty of debris to work with from the now-crumbling rail lines that once were the gleaming pride of Argentina.\u003cbr/\u003eRegazzoni now divides his time between the Buenos Aires warehouse and another train station in Paris.\u003cbr/\u003eHis sculptures and paintings are in demand both at home and abroad, and he's exhibited works as far away as Japan.\u003cbr/\u003eAt home he's something of a celebrity, making appearances on local television programmes including one talk show recently hosted by soccer legend Diego
