Burlesque dancer Beeby Rose performing\u003cbr/\u003eBurlesque dancers from around the world have been showing of their feathers and corsets in London.\u003cbr/\u003eThe UK's capital played host to a variety of acts for a week of titillating entertainment. \u003cbr/\u003eLondon's Caf� de Paris played host to performers from across the globe as they gathered to showcase their acts and flamboyant costumes.\u003cbr/\u003e100 performers from 12 countries including North America, Europe and Australia took to the stage for London Burlesque Week 2010. \u003cbr/\u003eBurlesque has been gaining momentum on the London scene again following high profile visits from U.S. dancer Dita Von Teese.    \u003cbr/\u003eThe performers come from a variety of backgrounds. Some like Maleficent Martini have grown up on the stage. The British performer started dancing at the age of 5 at the London School of Ballet.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Well I think it's really open minded for everybody, you don't need to be a stereotype to be burlesque, you can be very skinny or you can be more curvy, so it gives space for everybody to do what they want on stage,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003eThe event is organised by Mr Chaz Royal, the so called King of Burlesque, and his Queen Beeby Rose, said to be the first burlesque dancer in Holland. \u003cbr/\u003eRoyal has been involved in the production of more than 500 burlesque and variety performances since 2002. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Burlesque festival is in its 4th year, and has had similar productions in Europe and America. For me it's my exhibitionist streak,\" says Ruby.\u003cbr/\u003eThe tradition of burlesque began in Europe in the early 18th Century to describe a series of short musical and comic events juxtaposed to create diverse performances. \u003cbr/\u003eIt wasn't until the 20th Century in America that burlesque became closely associated with the variety show as it is known today in which striptease is the chief attraction.\u003cbr/\u003eBut modern burlesque isn't just about the removal of clothing. The acts here included included piano playing, puppetry and even fire dancing.\u003cbr/\u003eThe sell out event attracted a large audience, mostly female, who were intrigued and impressed by what they
