Bringing together a diverse mix of local designers, the second day of the event provided as much variety as the first. \u003cbr/\u003eRANG JA, a new and up and coming brand run by the young duo of Raza Rehman and Mahene Khan, exceeded expectations with its colorful and trendy collection with its attempt to fuse the best from the east and the west. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Basically, it's a fusion of east and west. We have taken motifs from our own tradition and we have taken foreign and western cuts...and done the fusion. Basically, the theme behind it is very colorful and very bright,\" Rehman said.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile RANG JA is aimed more towards the younger generation, the trend of fusion - of mixing indigenous designs and motifs with western cuts and styles - was a constant throughout, as more and more designers realize its potential.\u003cbr/\u003eInternational representatives and foreign buyers, who were conspicuous in their presence, seemed to agree.\u003cbr/\u003e \"I think what I love most about the designs today is that they are very fresh. Kilims are usually flat tapestry-woven carpets or rugs produced from the Balkans to Pakistan. \u003cbr/\u003e\"My collection for this evening is Western silhouette; and I have used local tribal prints inspired by the Kilims. So I have taken that and used that for pants and tops, short tops�and with some very interesting scarves. It's come together quite nicely, and I'm quite pleased about it,\" said Samee, one of the most sought after designers in Pakistan.\u003cbr/\u003eWith the growth and consolidation of Pakistan's fashion industry, more designers now have the opportunity to experiment with designs and styles. And with Pakistani designers carving out a niche for themselves internationally, fashion is playing a pivotal role in portraying the much needed 'counter narrative, or 'soft image' of Pakistan.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's very, very important to have this kind of events in Pakistan. And we are doing it to ensure that our international image becomes more positive\", model Gia Ali said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe presence of a large number of foreign buyers proves that such efforts are bearing fruit; and a sign that government support is likely to continue for such initiatives.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This was one event where genuine buyers were there, and there were meetings conducted between designers and buyers every day.
