the investigation say nerve gas is a significant contributing  factor to Gulf War illness.\u003cbr/\u003eThey maintain exposure to chemical weapons may be one reason why some troops fell  ill with undiagnosed aliments, and are urging the U-S Congress to consider  compensation.\u003cbr/\u003eThe report, released on Tuesday by the Senate Veterans' Affairs panel comes after a  year long study of Gulf War illnesses.\u003cbr/\u003eIt backs the long held view of the Pentagon that chemical weapons are not to blame for  a range of ailments reported by hundreds of U-S veterans who served in the Gulf War. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the panel's leaders maintain that chemical weapons are likely to have been part of  the mysterious mix responsible for the ailments.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)
