Armstrong died in 2012.\u003cbr/\u003eThe long process of documenting the find concluded only recently, and that's when the museum decided to go public, he said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe cloth bag also included other small pieces of equipment, including a waist tether that Armstrong had used to suspend his feet during a rest period while the module was on the moon.\u003cbr/\u003eNeedell called the bag's discovery \"extraordinarily exciting.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Armstrong family has loaned the material to the museum and pledged to donate it, he said.\u003cbr/\u003eFILE - Tranquility Base, the Moon - July 20, 1969\u003cbr/\u003e1. small hook and we were able to by analyzing some paint fragments and paint smudges on the inside of the large hook figure out that it was hooked to one of the fixtures inside the lunar module and used
