That is what appeals to me most because I do think the fundamental requisite for a film maker is to entertain. But entertainment doesn't have to be goofball. You can inform somebody and tell a personal story about how somebody by becoming informed of something had a dramatic story. Skiiers on slopes\u003cbr/\u003eRedford remains committed to Sundance\u003cbr/\u003eAmid the glitz, celebrity-watching and dealmaking that has overrun his Sundance Film Festival, ROBERT REDFORD figures now and then he has to step out from behind the scenes and remind people it's really all about independent movies.\u003cbr/\u003eCritics complain that Sundance has become too preoccupied with films that have big name stars and commercial appeal, however Redford is adamant that as soon as the festival ceases to serve its purpose, as a showcase for the Independent film industry, he will end it.\u003cbr/\u003eEven though Redford is the founder of Sundance, he often prefers to take a backseat at the Festival so that his celebrity does not take any attention away from the films that are being promoted.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever this year he has taken a higher than usual profile due to the uncertain times that followed the September 11th attacks and the potential undermining of civil liberties as the Bush administration responds to terrorist threats.\u003cbr/\u003eRedford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 to nurture promising filmmakers outside of Hollywood, whose blockbuster-minded studios tend to ignore inexperienced writers and directors. The institute has gradually expanded to include programs for film composers, documentary filmmakers and American Indian artists.\u003cbr/\u003eRedford clearly remains committed to film making and
