Two Eagles snuggle up to each other\u003cbr/\u003eRussian authorities have begun the mass vaccination of domestic fowl as they seek to prevent the spread of the deadly bird flu virus H5N1.\u003cbr/\u003eAt Moscow Zoo in Russia on Monday, veterinarians and zoo staff set to the task of rounding up birds, for vaccination.\u003cbr/\u003eBut capturing them proved to be difficult. Zoo workers used nets to control the birds.\u003cbr/\u003eOnce caught the Zoo's birds were injected with the vaccine Moscow  zoo staff hopes will help to curb the spread of the virus amongst their birds.\u003cbr/\u003eNataliya Istratova, Press Secretary of Moscow Zoo stressed that the vaccine was being used only to protect the zoo's birds. \u003cbr/\u003eShe made it clear that the vaccine would be ineffective if bird flu infected the entire Moscow area.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are using the vaccine so our own birds don't fall ill. If the bird flu strain H5N1 reaches the whole of the Moscow region then we won't be able to do anything about it. on measures being taken to deal with the spread of bird-flu.\u003cbr/\u003eRussia's Chief Epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko told deputies that the country had sufficient supplies of vaccine and had set up a nationwide monitoring headquarters. \u003cbr/\u003eHe added he believed the situation was under control.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the Russian Agriculture Ministry bird flu has now been registered in eight Russian regions, all in the southern part of the country, a major stopover area for migrating birds. \u003cbr/\u003eIn Russia no cases of bird flu in humans have been registered so far but Onishchenko has called for border controls to be tightened. \u003cbr/\u003eIn a recent letter to health officials he proposed preparing medical facilities at ports, airports, railway stations
