parliamentary elections.\u003cbr/\u003eNear final results published early on Thursday put four centre-right opposition parties ahead of the Communist Party, which has ruled the impoverished former Soviet republic since 2001.\u003cbr/\u003eWednesday's elections were called after parliament failed in two votes to elect a successor to outgoing President Vladimir Voronin, the leader of the Communists who has served the maximum two terms in office.\u003cbr/\u003eResidents in the capital Chisinau were generally pleased that Wednesday's vote passed off smoothly, but expressed concern that
