U.N.-Afghan electoral commission said.\u003cbr/\u003eThree other civilians were also reportedly killed in the explosion.\u003cbr/\u003eThe blast hit a vehicle of the Joint Electoral Management Body near Yahya Khel, a town in Paktika, a troubled province on the Pakistani border, JEMB spokesman Sultan Baheen said.\u003cbr/\u003eElection officials said it was unclear what caused the blast - Afghanistan is littered with ordnance left over from years of fighting.\u003cbr/\u003eUN spokesman Monoel de Almeida de Silva said \"the area where the incident happened is known for having many mines worker as a local physician who had helped organise the country's landmark October 9 vote.\u003cbr/\u003eThe other victims were the doctor's nephew, his driver and two other local men, Alikhel said.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Sultan Baheen who was speaking at a press conference in Kabul, said he could not confirm the deaths of the three civilians.\u003cbr/\u003eThe explosion was at least the second deadly incident surrounding the country's presidential election, which U.S.-backed incumbent Hamid Karzai is expected to win.\u003cbr/\u003eOn election day, three police officers died in a shootout with suspected militants as they escorted a convoy carrying ballot boxes in central Uruzgan province.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso speaking on Monday, Coalition spokesman Major General Craig Weston
