And that,  they say, is bad for U-S workers. \u003cbr/\u003ePresident Clinton took his case for free-market trade to the American people on  Wednesday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe White House wants to expand trade to markets in Latin America and Asia, with the  help of fast track trade authority.\u003cbr/\u003eFast rack would let the President submit trade deals to Congress for quick approval,  without the burden of hearings or tinkering by lawmakers.\u003cbr/\u003eThat power, says the President, will help boost the export of U-S products. Without it,  he says, the U-S could be left behind.     \u003cbr/\u003e\"If we don't have this authority we will leave the field to our competitors to break down  more trade barriers for their own products at our expense. Since 1992 in Latin America  and Asia alone our competitors have negotiated over twenty agreements that don't  include the United States. For example, now that Canada has negotiated a trade deal  with Chile every major economy in this hemisphere has duty free access to Chilean  markets. Every major economy but one. Ours.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: President Clinton.\u003cbr/\u003eThe President is hoping to ease the anger of some Democrats in Congress over fast  track. \u003cbr/\u003eThey remember the Clinton effort to push through the North American Free Trade  Agreement, and that hurt key Democrat support among labour and environmental  groups.\u003cbr/\u003eNow those groups are back to say they'll do all they can to block fast track before it  leads to another NAFTA.\u003cbr/\u003eThat trade deal, they say, robbed workers of jobs and hurt the U-S economy. \u003cbr/\u003eThe man who led the Teamsters union against U-P-S in the recent strike says they'll  fight to prevent NAFTA's fast track expansion.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"During the U-P-S strike, American workers stood together. They stood strong against  corporate greed. We're going to continue to fight for good jobs.
