And when the truck carrying the multinational aid crew arrived, friends and colleagues looked relieved to see them in good shape.\u003cbr/\u003eThey were escorted by a Red Cross negotiator who settled last-minute objections to the release from some of the kidnappers.\u003cbr/\u003eDetails of the release were not immediately known, said Michael Kleiner, spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva.\u003cbr/\u003eThe captors, a splinter group, had demanded up to one (m) million U-S dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe captives included a naturalised American Somali, two Swiss, a Norwegian, a German, a Belgian, a French nurse and a Somali.\u003cbr/\u003eThe pilots are Kenyan and South African.\u003cbr/\u003eKleiner said the Red Cross wanted to get the 10 to Nairobi, Kenya as quickly as possible.\u003cbr/\u003eThere have been conflicting reports about the captors' demands, but elders from the Abgal subclan, which controls north Mogadishu, had been pressing for their release, according to a Nairobi-based diplomat monitoring the kidnapping.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Nairobi, the families of the freed hostages were waiting for their loved ones to return from Mogadishu later in the day, said a Red Cross spokesman, who declined to give his name.\u003cbr/\u003eNorthern Mogadishu, Somalia - April 24 1998\u003cbr/\u003e1.
