And she said the timing of the proposed speech on March 3 is not appropriate because Netanyahu stands for election a few weeks later and could benefit politically from the rare honor of addressing Congress.\u003cbr/\u003eBoehner announced Wednesday that he'd invited Netanyahu to address Congress and push for new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.\u003cbr/\u003e\"These negotiations should rise and fall on what is happening in those negotiations, recognizing the strength that that diplomatic initiative of P5+1 brings to the table,\" Pelosi said. \"And so what is the point of sanctions? And if that's the purpose of Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit two weeks before his own election right in the midst of his negotiations, I just don't think it's appropriate and helpful.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe Obama administration has bristled at the move as a breach of protocol. Boehner has denied \"poking anyone in the eye.\"\u003cbr/\u003ePelosi also slammed the House GOP for pushing legislation toward House passage Thursday tightening restrictions on federal financing of abortions.  The White House has threatened to veto the bill and Pelosi said it \"undermines the ability of a woman to use her own money for her own insurance for full reproductive services.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe bill would permanently ban the use of federal money for abortions - a prohibition that's already in effect but that Congress must renew each year.\u003cbr/\u003eIt would also go further. It would bar individuals and many employers from collecting tax credits for insurance plans covering abortion that they pay for privately and purchase through exchanges established under the health care law. It would also block the District of Columbia from using its money to cover abortions for lower-income women.\u003cbr/\u003eYet, it was not the bill the GOP had initially hoped to approve.  \u003cbr/\u003eRepublican leaders had wanted to approve legislation criminalizing most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a measure that had also drawn a threatened veto. \u003cbr/\u003eLate Wednesday, they abruptly postponed the confrontation indefinitely after concluding they were short of votes.\u003cbr/\u003eWashington - 22 January 2015\u003cbr/\u003e1.
