Quattrochi wants Malaysia to stop his extradition to India, claiming he would become a victim of politics and not receive justice. \u003cbr/\u003eA High Court judge fixed February 16 to hear Quattrocchi's application to quash the Home Ministry's approval to have him sent to India on a request from New Delhi.\u003cbr/\u003eQuattrocchi told APTN there was no need for him to go to India, claiming \"there is no case\".\u003cbr/\u003eHe has been living in Malaysia as a business consultant for nearly seven years and was allowed to remain free on bail of 400-thousand ringgit (105-thousand and 263 U-S dollar).\u003cbr/\u003eIndia has filed charges against Quattrocchi and Martin Ardbo, former managing director of the Swedish arms maker, AB Bofors, for allegedly paying kickbacks to the Indian army on the purchase of 400 artillery guns. \u003cbr/\u003eIf convicted, they face up to seven years in prison.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth Quattrocchi, a former friend of the Gandhi family, and Ardbo have denied the charges against them. \u003cbr/\u003eArdbo is believed to be living in Sweden.\u003cbr/\u003eThe case is part of a 1986 scandal over the one point four (B) billion dollar sale, which stirred a political storm in India and helped bring down Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's government in 1989.\u003cbr/\u003eQuattrocchi was arrested by Malaysian police last month on a request from their Indian counterparts. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Home Ministry approved sending him to India, although the two countries do not have an extradition treaty.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Indian police hopes of flying back quickly to New Dehli with Quattrocchi in custody were dashed when the\u003cbr/\u003eItalian filed a motion to overturn his arrest. \u003cbr/\u003eA lower court adjourned the case when Quattrocchi's lawyers said they had filed a motion in the High Court to quash the extradition order.\u003cbr/\u003eQuattrocchi's lawyer, Mohamad Shafee Abdullah, said the Indian government has misled the Malaysian authorities by saying he had been charged in India.\u003cbr/\u003eShafee told reporters his clients was a \"political victim\".\u003cbr/\u003eQuattrocchi, who runs a consultant company to promote Malaysian-Italian investments, said that he hoped to stay\u003cbr/\u003ein Malaysia for the rest of his life.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a separate development, Indian police on Sunday questioned a member of a prominent British Indian family charged with corruption in the Bofors scandal.\u003cbr/\u003eSrichand Hinduja was interrogated for six hours by officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation in New\u003cbr/\u003eDelhi about money deposited in his Swiss bank accounts.\u003cbr/\u003eIndia's federal police filed corruption charges in October against Hinduja and his brothers, Gopichand Hinduja
