Various Vajpayee leaving stage\u003cbr/\u003eCalling the one (b) billion dollars US annual trade between India and Thailand an astonishing \"under-achievement,\" India's prime minister on Friday urged business people of both countries to increase trade and investment.\u003cbr/\u003eAtal Bihari Vajpayee, who is on a three-day official visit to Thailand, said while governments can help improve trade, sharp growth can only be achieved by businesses taking advantage of liberalisation policies.\u003cbr/\u003eVajpayee told a meeting of Thai business executives and their invited Indian counterparts in Bangkok that the two needed to form strategic alliances and to develop markets. \u003cbr/\u003eVajpayee's speech came a day after India and Thailand signed a landmark free-trade agreement that will eliminate all tariffs on trade between the two countries by 2010, beginning with the removal of tariffs on 84 items within two years.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth countries hope the free trade agreement will help double bilateral trade - which currently stands at about 1.2 (b)  billion - in about a year.\u003cbr/\u003eVajpayee said businesses from both sides could benefit from each other's needs.\u003cbr/\u003eIndia has a huge domestic market and can provide a low-cost, high-skill manufacturing base for Thai businesses. Thailand's competence in infrastructure matches India's growing needs.\u003cbr/\u003eIn addition, India's software skills could support Thailand's rapidly developing hardware capabilities.\u003cbr/\u003eThai Deputy Prime Minister Korn Dabbaransi, who also attended the lunch, said he was confident that the trade figure would nearly double in 14 months. \u003cbr/\u003eBut some businessmen complained during a question-and-answer session with Dabbaransi and India's Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley that they are often frustrated by bureaucratic hurdles in India and
