So that makes us feel proud. I'm very grateful to the people that come here and do that, but I think it's about the reputation that the AIDS foundation has gotten over the twenty years we've been in existence,\" John said.\u003cbr/\u003eHis civil partner Furnish remarked on the strides in the fight against AIDS.\u003cbr/\u003eTwelve years ago when we started, we didn't think we'd see an end to this disease, but now with the advances in medical treatment, we actually can see that on the horizon and it's a very exciting thing. We could see the momentum building, so we can't stop the fight, we have to keep going,\" Furnish said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Elton John AIDS Foundation will proudly present the very first Founder's Award to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.  Clinton's ground-breaking speech in Geneva declaring that \"gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights\" and the bold plan for an AIDS-free generation she presented at the International AIDS Conference epitomize EJAF's concept of \"an enduring vision of a world without AIDS.\"\u003cbr/\u003eJohn spoke highly of the former senator and secretary of state:\u003cbr/\u003e\"I've always been a big Hillary fan. I hope she's the next American president. I hope she runs. She's a great human rights campaigner for people of color, for people of sexual orientation. She's right up there amongst the leading people in the world and I admire her greatly and we just want to say thank you for helping us. She's made our fight easier by being such a staunch supporter of AIDS and for people's human rights.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFurnish added: \"Because her campaigning for LGBT rights, the stigma associated with that and the stigma with HIV AIDS, they're intertwined.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSinger Billy Joel walked the red carpet with girlfriend Alexis Roderick. But the piano man wasn't about to stump for a presidential candidate.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm not going there. I worked for Hillary Clinton when she ran for the senate in New York. Yeah, I think she'd make a good president. But I'm not stumping for anybody right now,\" Joel said.\u003cbr/\u003eJoel truly admires John's contribution to the fight against AIDS.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Well they've raised over $300 million dollars, number one, so that's a biggie. He's kind of tireless in his efforts here. He puts together a group of great people, so good for him,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eJohn and Joel have been friends and occasional touring partners over the past few decades. But recently, John has lashed out at Joel in the media.\u003cbr/\u003eJoel laughed it off, but said he wasn't involved.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Not me. I didn't bicker. I didn't bicker,\" Joel said.\u003cbr/\u003eThen he added: \"He's like my mom. I guess he's looking out for me in his way.\"\u003cbr/\u003eJoel plans on doing some gigs in the UK, and says he may expand. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I may start booking my own gigs in the states soon, so we'll see how it goes,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother celebrity that praised the knighted musician was Alec Baldwin. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Elton has stuck with this charity. He really... A lot of celebrities they launch this thing, they put their name behind it, they get it going, they get that ball teed up and they pass it on to other people. But he's here every year. He's still doing this, putting his shoulder into this.
