No. Will we change overnight? No. But will there be more respect for the United States throughout Latin America? Yes,\" Senator Leahy told journalists at Thursday's news conference \u003cbr/\u003eIllinois Senator Dick Durbin (D) compared the situation with that with the Soviet Union at the end of the twentieth century.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Look at what happened when the Soviet Union finally disintegrated. It disintegrated because the Warsaw pact nations and many Soviet republics took a look outside and said, 'There's a better world to the west'.
