financial assistance they pledged for rebuilding Afghanistan.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking to reporters along with Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, Secretary of State Colin Powell said the United States would work with other nations on getting reconstruction aid delivered \"more rapidly.\" \u003cbr/\u003eSome donor nations have been slow to send money, nervous about violence and instability.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdullah was among a delegation of Afghan ministers who traveled to Washington for a two-day summit at Georgetown University on helping Afghanistan shed the ravages of war. \u003cbr/\u003eThursday, U.S. officials asked the Afghans to continue making their country safer, and be patient.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Afghan officials remained worried about the flow of 4-point-5 (b) billion dollars in reconstruction aid promised by donor nations during a summit in Tokyo in January. \u003cbr/\u003eThe funds have merely trickled into Kabul, while pressures on the fledgling government have increased.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdullah warned that his country could slide back into chaos if nations continue to withhold billions in aid out of concern about security.     \u003cbr/\u003eDuring their meeting, Powell said he also expressed his personal regrets on behalf of the United States for the Afghan lives lost during a recent American military operation.\u003cbr/\u003eOn July 1st, a U.S. Air Force AC-130 gunship searching for al-Qaida members accidentally struck civilians celebrating a wedding, killing dozens.\u003cbr/\u003eThe U-S Secretary of State also talked with the press about his upcoming trip to India and Pakistan this weekend.\u003cbr/\u003ePowell said the purpose of the trip is to discuss U-S bilateral relations with each of the two neighbors, but added, also high on the agenda is determining whether there are any other actions that can be taken to reduce the level of violence in
