One of them was studied by using pollen analysis with very interesting results. Its ruins are nestled inside the gritty town of Torre Annunziata, disconnected from a shoreline that today looks grim and industrial.\u003cbr/\u003eBut 2-thousand years ago the sea breeze reached terraced gardens with fruit trees, near patios and colonnades that greeted Rome's high society in the summer.  A series of corridors led into vast frescoed rooms. \u003cbr/\u003e\"All we see in this villa, shows us the luxurious life of Roman aristocracy,\" says Oplontis tour guide, Mattia Buondonno. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The decorations make this villa look like a museum, because we find five rooms with decoration from the1st century B.C, around 50-40 B.C., with the famous second Pompeian style,\" Buondonno adds. \u003cbr/\u003eIt is here that Poppaea Sabina, Emperor Nero's second wife, entertained her guests in the first century A.D. boasting two thermal baths and an Olympic-size pool. \u003cbr/\u003eHistorians believe Poppaea's villa was undergoing restoration works when the Vesuvius volcano buried it under its ashes in 79 A.D. \u003cbr/\u003eSo far, only two villas have been uncovered and only \"Villa A\" is open to the public. \u003cbr/\u003eRecently, archeologists with the The Oplontis Project, have shed new light on the original landscape of Oplontis.  \u003cbr/\u003eResearchers from the University of Austin, Texas, and the Italian Ministry of Culture and Heritage, believe Oplontis was pushed away from the shoreline during the Vesuvius eruption. Today, it sits nearly one mile (1.6 kilometres) away from the shore. \u003cbr/\u003eElda Russo Ermolli, a geologist with The Oplontis Project, explains: \u003cbr/\u003e\"Poppaea's villa in Oplontis had a panoramic location with a view of the gulf of Naples, in fact it was located right above the sea, on a cliff that was about 15 metres high (49 feet high). This cliff was terraced, with gardens that allowed access to the villa even from the shore.\" \u003cbr/\u003eA 12th-century replica of a Roman map called Tabula Peutingeriana places Oplontis on the coast, between the cities of Pompeii and Ercolano. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Oplontis Project undertook intense excavations, where they recovered hints of pollen. Russo Ermolli used this information to recreate the villa's most prized features - its internal gardens.   \u003cbr/\u003e\"Pollen analysis highlighted the presence of myrtle and lemons, that were the predominant bouquets of the garden,\" she explains.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe Oplontis Project will continue excavations this summer.  \u003cbr/\u003eHowever, the archeological site will remain open for
