chiefs on Saturday.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking at the end of the the two-day meeting Christine Lagarde said there had been currency worries but no confrontation only \"a dialogue, deliberation, discussions\".\u003cbr/\u003eLargarde went on to praise the work of the European Central Bank in helping to restore confidence in the euro as a currency and in the euro zone block of nations in general.\u003cbr/\u003e\"There is no longer a query about the viability of either (the) euro or euro zone,\" she said.\u003cbr/\u003eFinance ministers and central bankers ended the two-day meeting with a pledge not to target their exchange rates for competitive purposes.\u003cbr/\u003eA joint communique included a promise that the G20 members would \"refrain from competitive devaluation\" and \"resist all forms of protectionism and keep our markets open\".\u003cbr/\u003eSeveral investors and politicians had been concerned by recent developments affecting the Japanese yen, which now trades near a three-year low. \u003cbr/\u003eJapan is facing charges that it is trying first and foremost to lower the value of the yen to stimulate its economy and get the edge over other countries.\u003cbr/\u003eIf too many countries try to weaken their currencies for economic gain - sparking a so-called \"currency war\" - the fragile global recovery could be
