End of news conference\u003cbr/\u003eThe head of the French National Olympic Committee has ruled out allowing his athletes to wear a badge at the Beijing Games that reads \"For a Better World,\" angering athletes and others who want to express their views on human rights.\u003cbr/\u003eAt a news conference on Tuesday, Henri Serandour said: \"If there was a demonstration to be made in Beijing, it should be collective and accepted by everyone because people from all the continents, with their own problems today, do not have the same approach as us\".\u003cbr/\u003eFrench athletes came up with the idea of a badge after China's crackdown on protests in March in Tibet.\u003cbr/\u003eSerandour had told L'Equipe TV on Monday night that the Olympic Charter must be respected. \u003cbr/\u003eThe decision nixes the athletes' plan to show their attachment to Olympic values and human rights via the small badge bearing the five Olympic rings.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Olympic Charter rules out any kind of \"demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda\" at all \"Olympic sites, venues or other areas.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"I didn't think that what I said last night would have such an impact,\" Serandour said on Tuesday. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I wish that the French athletes continue this action with other athletes. I will always support them.
