This has been conveyed to the United Nations through appropriate diplomatic channels. It is our view that an opportunity should be given to other countries to take part in the peace-keeping mission in Sierra Leone. India remains resolutely committed to UN peace-keeping efforts and is willing to consider joining peace-keeping missions in other parts of the world, if requested. With respect to the continuation of General Jetley \u003cbr/\u003eas Force commander of the UNAMSIL , a decision would be taken at the appropriate time.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPERCAPTION: R.S.Jassal , Foreign ministry spokesman\u003cbr/\u003eMany however feel that other reasons were responsible for the Indian withdrawal .\u003cbr/\u003eThe Indians are said to be smarting from critiques of the mission command and the personal disputes between General Jetley and Nigerian officials under him.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Washington Post and Britain's Guardian newspaper reported earlier this month that during the May hostage crisis, Jetley wrote a memo accusing Nigerian officers in the peacekeeping mission and the West African peacekeeping force that preceded it of trafficking in diamonds.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Nigerian army denied any of its troops had been found with diamonds.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English ) \u003cbr/\u003e\"This has simply been because of head-on clash between the Nigerians and the Indians.
