(Oct. 31)\u003cbr/\u003e [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]  \u003cbr/\u003eOfficials at Christies don't think the global credit crisis will stop art lovers from bidding during two of the auction house's biggest sales of the year.\u003cbr/\u003eAuctions of Impressionist and Modern Art AND Post-War and Contemporary art are scheduled for early November.\u003cbr/\u003eAmong the highlights - this Picasso.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Guy Bennett, Christies: \"To see this sort of juxtaposition of the surrealist elements with the love of his life, this glorious, glorious palette, it's an extraordinary painting, fresh to the market by Pablo Picasso, the leading light of our field.\"\u003cbr/\u003eChristies expects it will bring in between 18 and 25 million dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd there's a Kandinsky - also estimated in the multi-million dollar range.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Bennett: \" we're estimating about 15 to 20 (m) million (US) dollars and I suspect on Thursday night here at Christies in New York, it will set a new world record for an early Kandinsky.\"\u003cbr/\u003e Some of the art is being sold by the rich and famous. This painting is on commission from Lars Ulrich - the drummer for the rock band Metallica.\u003cbr/\u003eBut financial experts say some of Christies estimates may be a bit high.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Robert Frank, Wealth reporter for Wall Street Journal: \"My guess is that we will see similar performance at the evening auctions in New York that we saw overseas, perhaps maybe half to two-thirds the estimate and comparable prices may be down between ten to twenty percent.\"\u003cbr/\u003e The impressionist and modern art auction is expected to bring in up to 256 million dollars.
