Wide of the interns leaving the newsroom \u003cbr/\u003eNewspaper sales are in decline in France but a newspaper designed for children is one of the most popular dailies in the country. \u003cbr/\u003eFor sixteen years the subscription-only title has thrived, spawning a series of other children's publications.\u003cbr/\u003eThe daily news fix is a familiar routine in France but sales of newspapers are falling steadily.\u003cbr/\u003eThe French are buying less and reading less - with one notable exception.\u003cbr/\u003eMon Quotidien (My Daily) is an 8-page daily aimed at 10 to 14-year-olds.\u003cbr/\u003eSince it began in 1995 sales have grown and it now claims 60,000 loyal subscribers.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Vice Editor in Chief Olivier Gasselin the compact size is one of the key selling points for children:\u003cbr/\u003e\"When the kid comes home from school and has his afternoon snack or at night just before going to bed, he can just browse a panorama of news. I think there are more than 30 different news stories in Mon Quotidien.\"\u003cbr/\u003eMy Daily's success has spun off two other daily titles: the 4-page le Petit Quotidien (Little Daily) aimed at younger 7 to 10-year-olds and 8-page L'Actu (The Headlines) for older teenagers.\u003cbr/\u003e30,000 teenagers subscribe to L'Actu, with 80,000 signed up to the Little Daily.\u003cbr/\u003eThe children's papers may be small but the production office in Paris is a professional set up. For journalists it feels like any other busy newsroom says Gasselin.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The first person gets here at 6 am and the last one to leave gets out at around 1:00am, 1:30am.\"\u003cbr/\u003eTeenage interns get to spend a week working on The Headlines and for Alexis Bridoux and  Quentin Domage it's a chance to contribute to the editorial.\u003cbr/\u003e\"At the editorial conference, they ask about our opinion so it is quite interesting. They also learn says Quentin Domage, \"we learn a lot of things here, we participate a lot in the newspaper's life, it's nice.\"\u003cbr/\u003eTwice a week younger children are invited onto the editorial board of My Daily.\u003cbr/\u003eEditorial standards have to be rigorously maintained says Gasselin.\u003cbr/\u003e\"For many of them, we are their only source of information. They do not have two or three newspapers that they can compare, through which they will forge their own opinion, so really we are their only point of reference.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe papers mix feature news, photos, quizzes  and cartoons. What fills the paper is what the children want says culture editor Raphaele Botte.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Everything that stands out for them - video games, movies, TV programmes or music etc.  What is important in Mon Quotidien (My Daily) is really their opinion, and not ours.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe success of these titles flies in the face of competition from digitial and online temptations for children's attention.\u003cbr/\u003eBut with each group age the number of subscribers diminishes. The youngest title, \"Le Petit Quotidien\", has about 80,000 subscribers, \"Mon Quotidien\" has 60,000 and \"L'Actu\" aimed at teenagers about 30,000, according to circulation figures from owners Play Bac Presse.\u003cbr/\u003eHanging on to young newspaper readers gets more and more difficult as they get older. But the publishers hope that getting the newspaper habit early could help secure the future of grown-up newspapers and also help breed a new generation of journalists.\u003cbr/\u003ePlay Bac Presse also publish \"L'ï¿½co\", an 8-page newspaper focusing on the economy and two English-language papers, \"My Weekly\" and \"My Little Weekly\".\u003cbr/\u003eSales of newspapers and magazines in France fell around 2 percent last year (2.2% in 2010, 3,3% in 2009) while the use of Web sites has gone up 22%, according to OJD, the Association pour le Controle de la Diffusion des
