I know the scientific jury is still out, I know a couple more studies are being done. But should this be shown to be effective, we will have another means to prevent the spread of the disease and to save lives and we will have another job to do - a big job first in selling it and secondly in providing safe, effective, comprehensive and rapid ways of doing it. So, I think it is important as we leave here we all be prepared for a green light that could have a staggering impact on the male population, but will be frankly a lot of trouble to get done. And we have to be prepared to do it. Clinton shaking hands and walking off stage\u003cbr/\u003eFormer US president Bill Clinton, speaking to the 16th International AIDS conference in Toronto on Tuesday, marked some progress against the spread of the disease but said \"there is still too much bad news and too many blind alleys, too many unanswered questions.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn a wide-ranging address to the conference, Clinton said that although a vaccine for HIV/AIDS vaccine still seemed decades away work must continue on the scientific front.\u003cbr/\u003eClinton said that those attending the conference needed to learn from each other, leave smarter and be more dedicated.\u003cbr/\u003eWading into controversial territory, the former US president said that if male circumcision turns out to be an effective way of reducing the spread of HIV, then delegates will have to find a way to rapidly make it happen.  \u003cbr/\u003eRecent trials of male circumcision have indicated men are more than 50 percent less likely to contract or spread the virus that can lead to AIDS if they have been circumcised.\u003cbr/\u003eBut behavioural and society issues are still major barriers and HIV prevention research faces financial and ethnical obstacles that could delay\u003cbr/\u003eor even derail completion of critical trials.\u003cbr/\u003eClinton said that AIDS activists would have a major job to do \"first in selling it and secondly in providing safe, effective, comprehensive and rapid ways of doing it.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAnother buzz at the world's largest AIDS conference was over early clinical trials of microbicides that would help women protect themselves from HIV.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the treatment might be available in several years, but AIDS experts warned the world is unprepared to ensure widespread access to such treatments.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 40 million people worldwide are living with the virus that can lead to AIDS; 25 million of them have already died since the first cases of HIV were reported
