Bush on Tuesday pledged continued US cooperation on narco-trafficking in Mexico, saying the United States has a responsibility to help prevent guns from moving south across the border.\u003cbr/\u003eBush had his final White House meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, a leader US officials have praised for deploying troops to fight cartels and capturing top drug kingpins. \u003cbr/\u003eCalderon won a multimillion-dollar, anti-drug aid package from Washington last year.\u003cbr/\u003eIncoming President-elect Barack Obama, who met with Calderon on Monday, supports the plan, known as the Merida Initiative, and has promised to help end gun-smuggling from the US to Mexico.\u003cbr/\u003eCalderon, who also talked to Bush about US-Mexico trade, said his administration was pledged to \"fighting criminals and to overcoming them once and for all.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe United States released an additional 99 million dollars as part of an aid package to support Mexico's police and soldiers in their fight against drug cartels last week.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe funds would help Mexico's military buy aircraft and other equipment to help detect drugs, cash and weapons. \u003cbr/\u003eThe money comes as Mexico's death toll from drug violence soared above 5,000 in 2008, and the killing has continued this
