Swami, Nepal's honorary consul in Singapore, arrived at the hospital carrying bags of gifts, including a matching pair of teddy bears mailed by students from a school in Hong Kong.\u003cbr/\u003eThe girls, Ganga and Jamuna Shrestha, were born joined at the tops of their heads with their brains fused. \u003cbr/\u003eTheir separation surgery was one of very few of its kind to succeed.\u003cbr/\u003eThe twins' father, Bushan K. Chatria, 24, said he and his wife were marking the girls' birthday by \"only praying.\"\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Keith Goh, who directed the separation surgery, beamed when he left the twins' ward Wednesday and said the twins were \"looking very good.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThough the twins are showing signs of improvement after battling dangerous post-surgical infections, they were still in an intensive care ward Wednesday and doctors say they have a challenging road ahead.\u003cbr/\u003eThe feistier twin Jamuna has had a tougher battle with infection due to the larger size of her surgical wound, Goh said.\u003cbr/\u003eFamily members said Ganga seemed to be gradually improving, but was still relatively quiet after the surgery.\u003cbr/\u003eJamuna has been recovering more quickly and was \"smiling and laughing very loudly\" on Wednesday, her father said.\u003cbr/\u003eSingaporeans raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help pay for the twins' treatment. Doctors performed the surgery for free, and the hospital waived many of its charges. \u003cbr/\u003eNational carrier Singapore Airlines flew the family from Nepal to Singapore.\u003cbr/\u003eThe twins have become celebrities in Singapore, a wealthy but resource-poor city-state known for its high standards of health care. \u003cbr/\u003eThe country hopes to become a medical services and research hub
