still stranded in Europe and beyond.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Spain, some tourists managed to get places on board a British naval ship sailing from Santander, which was also carrying troops on their way home from serving in Afghanistan, but air passengers at Madrid''s Barajas airport were still out of luck, with flights into Heathrow and other destinations still grounded.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Santander in northern Spain, the Royal Navy warship the HMS Albion came to the rescue of nearly 800 British soldiers and civilians stranded in Spain by the volcanic ash cloud, and will later set sail for the 40-hour voyage to the naval port of Portsmouth, England.\u003cbr/\u003eBritish soldiers and tourists boarded the 173-metre-long (570 foot) amphibious assault vessel.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 500 soldiers came to Spain via Cyprus after serving a 6-month tour of duty in the war in Afghanistan.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the 290 civilians boarding, Patricia Quirke from Manchester, England, said she and nine British officials said London airports - a major hub for thousands of daily flights worldwide - were likely to remain closed for another day, much to the frustration of British passengers stranded at Madrid''s Barajas Airport.\u003cbr/\u003eBritish Embassy officials were on hand to advise them.\u003cbr/\u003eOne Irish man, Dermot Gleason, said he was going to try and make his way to Barcelona or Paris by coach, and onwards from there.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Eurocontrol air traffic agency in Brussels said it expected some 55 to 60 percent of flights over Europe to go ahead on Tuesday, a marked improvement over the last few days. \u003cbr/\u003eBy midmorning, 10-thousand of Europe''s 27,500 daily flights were scheduled to go.\u003cbr/\u003eThe agency predicted close to normal takeoffs by Friday.\u003cbr/\u003eStill, an international pilots group warned that ash remains a danger and meteorologists say Iceland''s still-erupting volcano isn''t ready to rest yet, promising more choked airspace and flight delays to come.\u003cbr/\u003eAsh that had drifted over the North Sea from the volcano in southern Iceland was being pushed back over Britain on Tuesday by shifting north winds, Icelandic scientists said.\u003cbr/\u003eA Eurocontrol map showing the ash cloud on Tuesday listed only the airspace between Iceland and Britain and Ireland as a no-fly zone, along with much of the Baltic Sea and surrounding area. \u003cbr/\u003eThe ash cloud also spread westward from Iceland, toward Greenland and Canada''s eastern coastline.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe volcano in southern Iceland is
