Trainee sliding down the escape chute \u003cbr/\u003eThe desire to show his relatives and friends what an aircraft looks like from the inside led Bahadur Chand Gupta, a former aviation engineer, to buy a retired Airbus A-300 two years ago. And start a whole new venture.\u003cbr/\u003eSince then, the airplane has been parked on a plot of land in Dwarka, a suburb of New Delhi and is now being used to train India's next generation of airline personnel.  \u003cbr/\u003eGupta said acquiring the aircraft had not been difficult but transporting it to its present location had been quite complicated.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Airbus used to belong to the domestic carrier, Indian Airlines.\u003cbr/\u003eIt had met with a mishap at Delhi airport which rendered it unable to fly.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was then that Gupta bid for the aircraft through a tender process and brought it to its new home in May 2003. \u003cbr/\u003eThough he refuses to divulge the amount, it probably cost billions of rupees. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter bringing it to Dwarka, Gupta, an engineer, was able to dismantle and reassemble the aircraft at its new 'hangar'.  \u003cbr/\u003eMost of the systems on the aircraft are fully operational and Gupta saw the opportunity to provide aviation industry-related training. \u003cbr/\u003eGupta says his training system is unique.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Technicians who are working with airlines, they come to me. We give them the experience of how to change the wheel, how to change the wiring....manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus - even they do not have this facility. Because it is very expensive,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eBesides engineers and technicians who visit the aircraft for intensive courses on the functioning of the various systems, Gupta has leased out the aircraft to a cabin crew training institute.   \u003cbr/\u003eTrainees from all over India are brought to Delhi for a familiarisation course on the Airbus.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe hands-on training on a real aircraft complements their classroom lessons.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It is puts them on a high of being on a real aircraft,\" says Bhavna Tiwari an instructor with the Frankfinn Institute of
