Various exteriors of plant\u003cbr/\u003eOne man's dream in Canada is to be a fuel visionary -- the person who came up with the magic replacement for fossil fuels.\u003cbr/\u003eA multi-million dollar bio oil plant is the first key step in Andrew Kingston's dream.\u003cbr/\u003eThis multi-million dollar bio-oil plant in Canada converts tons of wood chips into environmentally-friendly bio-oil every day.\u003cbr/\u003eBio-oil made from wood chips doesn't harm the environment to the same degree as fossil fuels, according to the developer, Andrew Kingston.\u003cbr/\u003eIt also doesn't emit poisonous sulphur dioxide and is cheaper than fossil fuel.\u003cbr/\u003eIt costs approximately $25-30 US dollars a barrel.\u003cbr/\u003eA challenge with many biofuels is being able to produce them on a large-scale.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Kingston's company is doing just that.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE (English) \u003cbr/\u003e\"We are starting to produce bio oil on a commercial basis now. As we extend into other markets and build other plants, the impact will become greater and hopefully in the next few years, more significant.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPERCAPTION: Andrew Kingston, biofuel producer\u003cbr/\u003eThe plant is in West Lorne, Ontario and has been built alongside a 100 year old flooring company, Erie Flooring.\u003cbr/\u003eThe company produces 70 tons of sawdust a day as a waste by-product. \u003cbr/\u003eThis dried wood chip waste serves as the raw material for Kingston's bio-oil. \u003cbr/\u003eKnown as 'bio mass', the wood chips are suddenly heated to a very high temperature in an oxygen-free environment and then rapidly cooled. \u003cbr/\u003eThe process is called 'fast pyrolosis'.\u003cbr/\u003eThe bio-mass is then converted to bio-oil liquid. \u003cbr/\u003eA by-product of this conversion is condensable gas -- which is used to fuel the pyrolosis process. \u003cbr/\u003eThe plant produces 50-70 tonnes of bio-oil a day.\u003cbr/\u003eThey sell the fuel to factories across the US and Canada, which are trying to adhere pollution emission controls.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE (English) \u003cbr/\u003e\"There are industries that have certain requirements to reduce their emissions profile.
