Closing the Tropicana is somewhat of a national event...\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Gerardo Chijona, Director\u003cbr/\u003eThe idea for the film originated from a documentary that Chijona made over ten years ago, about the life, backstage, of cabaret dancers. \u003cbr/\u003eThough it is a work of fiction, he has worked hard to recreate, as faithfully as possible, the spirit of the Tropicana. \u003cbr/\u003eAssuming the character of a cabaret dancer was something that came easy to lead actress Thais Valdes. \u003cbr/\u003eAlthough she did confess that the dance routines were somewhat harder to master. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Spanish)\u003cbr/\u003e\"The hard part is learning the choreography. Developing the character is much easier, because the Tropicana is part of us, it's in our blood - the Cuban dances are in our blood.
