Close up of Feinberg talking during interview\u003cbr/\u003eIn the aftermath of the Boston bombings, both financial experts and victims have been counting the cost.\u003cbr/\u003eThe price for amputating a leg for instance, has been put at 20,000 US dollars and the cost of an artificial leg is put at more than 50,000 US dollars for the most hi-tech models.  Rehab for amputees can run into tens of thousands more.\u003cbr/\u003eThese are just a fraction of the medical expenses victims of the Boston Marathon bombing will face. \u003cbr/\u003eWhile it has to said that the mammoth price tag is probably not what patients are focusing on as they begin the long healing process, friends and strangers alike are already organising fundraisers and online crowd-funding sites, and a huge Boston city fund has already collected more than 23 (m) million US dollars in individual and corporate donations.\u003cbr/\u003eNo one knows yet if those donations - plus health insurance, hospital charity funds and other sources - will be enough to cover the bills. Few will even hazard a guess as to what the total medical bill will be for a tragedy that killed three people and injured more than 270. \u003cbr/\u003eAt least 15 people lost limbs. Others suffered wounds that included head injuries and tissue torn apart by shrapnel.\u003cbr/\u003eHealth insurance does not always cover all costs. In the case of artificial limbs, for example, some insurance companies pay for a basic model but not a computerised one with sophisticated, lifelike joints.\u003cbr/\u003eAmputees may face the steepest costs, and artificial legs are the most expensive. \u003cbr/\u003eThey range from about 7,200 US dollars for a basic below-the-knee model to as much as 90,000 dollars for a hi-tech microprocessor-controlled full leg, according to  Dr. Terrence Sheehan, chief medical officer for Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital in Rockville, Maryland, and medical director of the Amputee Coalition, a national advocacy group.\u003cbr/\u003eAt a hospital news conference on Thursday, bombing survivor Heather Abbott said he had already received offers of help to pay for an artificial leg.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 38-year-old from Newport, Rhode Island, was queuing to get into a crowded bar when the bombs went off.\u003cbr/\u003e\"As we were standing there, a loud noise went off, I
