There is no other way, there is no military means and so on. And no one has asked Hamas to accept the agreement signed of the two-state solution or anything. We're asking that any Palestinian government must accept the obligations of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organisation), including the two-state solution, the region of Israel, and sticks to their obligations. Erekat walks down hallway\u003cbr/\u003eIraqi Vice President Adil Abdul-Mahdi said on Saturday his country fears a deterioration in security following a US troop withdrawal, but insisted that the government was ready to take on the challenge.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdul-Mahdi spoke on the sidelines of an international economic gathering in Jordan sponsored by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum.\u003cbr/\u003eThe event has brought together more than 1,000 politicians and business leaders from 79 countries.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdul-Mahdi stressed that Iraqi forces have already taken control of several provinces across the country, where the security situation has improved because the Iraqis were better trained and equipped.\u003cbr/\u003eUS President Barack Obama has said he plans to end US combat operations in Iraq by August 31, 2010, leaving a contingency force of up to 50,000 - allegedly to train and advise the Iraqi security forces. \u003cbr/\u003eThe remainder of US troops are required under a US-Iraqi security pact to leave by the end of 2011.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite rising death tolls from attacks in Iraq, the Iraqi government has ruled out asking US combat troops to remain in Iraqi cities after the June 30 deadline under the US-Iraq security agreement that took effect this year.\u003cbr/\u003eUS and Iraqi officials are gambling that Iraq's army and police are better prepared now to maintain security than they were three years ago, when a move by the US military to scale down its presence in the cities was followed by a sharp rise in violence.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdul-Mahdi said the United States will meet the withdrawal deadline at the end of 2011. \u003cbr/\u003eBut he added \"if there is a mutual agreement on mutual, on new issues, future issues, we will see at that time\".\u003cbr/\u003eAbdul-Mahdi, one of Iraq's two vice presidents, was due to take part later on Saturday in a WEF panel discussion on Iraq's stakes following the US troop withdrawal. \u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, also speaking on the sidelines of the WEF meeting, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat commented on an upcoming meeting between Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. \u003cbr/\u003eFinding ways to restart Arab-Israeli peace talks and ease the impact of the global financial crisis on the Middle East has topped discussions at the meeting. \u003cbr/\u003eErekat said he hoped the Israeli leader heeds calls from Obama and other international leaders for a two-state solution to peace in the region. \u003cbr/\u003eObama has made reviving Arab-Israeli peace talks - and reviving the US image in the Muslim world - a priority.
