Pictures' first Indian production.\u003cbr/\u003eVeteran actor Kumar stars as Sidhu in the film which marks the largest initial release of any Bollywood film in the United Sates and Canada.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Chandni Chowk to China\" follows Sidhu's journey from a cook to kung fu fighter as he travels from Chandni Chowk in Delhi, India, to the Great Wall of China. \u003cbr/\u003eChinese strangers come to Sidhu for help, believing he is an incarnation of a great war hero from the past. An unsuspecting Sidhu sets out for China, unaware that he is about to battle the vicious leader Hojo (played by Gordon Liu).\u003cbr/\u003eKumar, who was joined by his wife, actress Twinkle Khanna on the red carpet, said there were many challenges in making this film: \"From the beginning of the making of the script, to combine two cultures together - India and China. And shooting on the Great Wall of China.\"\u003cbr/\u003eNewcomer Padukone plays Sakhi, an Indian starlet on a mission of her own. \u003cbr/\u003eSakhi travels to China to make peace with the death of her father and twin sister at the hands of Hojo. Similar to her first role in \"Om Shanti Om,\" Padukone plays both Sakhi and her twin Meow Meow. \u003cbr/\u003eDespite her athletic background, Padukone says the action scenes were her biggest challenge. She also says it was wonderful having the support of Warner Brothers Pictures: \"I think it just takes Indian cinema to a whole new level. And hopefully this is the beginning of bigger and better things for India cinema.\" \u003cbr/\u003eDirector Nikhil Advani was overwhelmed to be premiering his film in New York City and admitted his
