As well as transports to concentration camps.  Second major area is forced and slave labour, massive documentation of people - Jews and non-Jews, who were victimised through a system of slave and forced labour and the third biggest piece of the collection relates to the displaced person experience, the immediate post-war experience and the fates of people whose lives were disrupted or destroyed as they sought to recreate their lives in the aftermath of the war. Wide shot United States Holocaust Memorial Museum\u003cbr/\u003eGermany agreed on Tuesday to clear the way for the opening of Nazi records on some 17 million Jews and enslaved labourers who were persecuted and slain by the Nazis and their collaborators more than 60 years ago during the Holocaust.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking in Washington at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries said that Germany would work in partnership with the United States to assure the opening of the archives, held in Bad Arolsen, Germany, and allow historians and survivors access to some 30 million to 50 million documents.\u003cbr/\u003eUntil now, Germany resisted providing free access to the archives, citing that disclosing intimate details about the fates of concentration camp inmates and slave labourers would violate their right to privacy.\u003cbr/\u003eThe dispute has percolated for nearly a decade. Critics blamed bureaucrats for the impasse.\u003cbr/\u003eBut in a meeting Tuesday with Sara Bloomfield, the museum''s director, Zypries said Germany had changed its position and would seek immediate revision of an 11-nation accord that governs the archives.\u003cbr/\u003eShe said that should take no more than six months.\u003cbr/\u003eMuseum director Bloomfield said she was extremely happy with the decision and will be thrilled to gain access to the material in the archives.\u003cbr/\u003eFor 60 years, the International Red Cross has managed the archived documents to trace missing and dead Jews and forced labourers, who were systematically persecuted by Nazi Germany and its anti-Semitic confederates across central and eastern Europe before and during World War II.\u003cbr/\u003eIt
