Wideshot of news conference\u003cbr/\u003eThe Lower Manhattan Development Corporation in the United States announced on Thursday that it has chosen six teams of architects to submit designs for the World Trade Center site.\u003cbr/\u003eOne group includes Richard Meier, who designed the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, while another is led by Skidmore Owings and Merrill, the firm that is already involved in the WTC project through leaseholder Larry Silverstein.\u003cbr/\u003eOthers included Foster and Partners from London Studio Daniel Libeskind in Berlin.\u003cbr/\u003eThe teams were chosen from 407 submissions and include architects from Berlin, London, Amsterdam and Tokyo.   \u003cbr/\u003eThe LMDC said in August that it was inviting architects from around the world to submit designs after its original six proposals for the 16-acre trade center site were roundly criticised. \u003cbr/\u003eThe corporation have also extended the projects planning process by up to three months.\u003cbr/\u003eEach of the six selected teams have been asked to come up with two to three different plans for the World trade center site within the next five to eight
