Tight shot of Mears\u003cbr/\u003eWashingtonians showed mixed reactions to Tuesday's vice presidential debate between Vice President Dick Cheney and Senator John Edwards.\u003cbr/\u003eDozens of people gathered at a bar in Georgetown to watch Tuesday's debate.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile enjoying their favourite drinks and food, these people also kept a close eye to the television screens.\u003cbr/\u003eOne patron clearly favoured Cheney, while another indicated that Edwards had the upper hand over the vice president.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, Walter Mears, a Pulitzer winning reporter for the Associated Press,said the two men had a \"real debate.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Mears, both Cheney and Edwards got intense and personal during the debate.\u003cbr/\u003eMears went on to say that he could not tell with certainty which candidate had scored a \"clear victory\" at the debate \u003cbr/\u003eMears covered politics for most of his 45-year career with the AP, winning the Pulitzer for his coverage of the 1976 presidential campaign.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two men debated exactly four weeks before Election Day on Nov. 2 in a race for the White House that has drawn closer in recent days. The debate\u003cbr/\u003eformat encouraged give-and-take - and neither the Bush administration's powerful second-in-command nor Kerry's running mate shrunk from the task in their only
