of the capital Lima on Sunday.\u003cbr/\u003eAnti-riot police were guarding the entrance to the bullring, the Plaza de Toros de Acho, as protestors stood outside the gates holding banners and chanting slogans against one of the country's most traditional forms of popular entertainment.\u003cbr/\u003eThe activists \"vomited\" a red syrup that was meant to represent bulls' blood, and many of them wore t-shirts soaked in red liquid to look like blood.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We're against bullfighting, we're against animal abuse, we're against a society that is open to this kind of entertainment,\" said anti-bullfighting activist Renzo Bazan.\u003cbr/\u003eBullfighting has a strong tradition in Peru, but in recent years animal rights advocates have launched many campaigns against the events, calling for the cruelty to stop.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Any activity that uses animals to put on a spectacle and as part of a game and to bring them in front of everyone and kill them, we're totally against it,\" said Diana Solis, another anti-bullfighting activist.\u003cbr/\u003ePeruvian bullfighter Carlos Ramirez, French bullfighter Juan Leal and Mexican bullfighter Michelito Lagravere were all performing corridas - the traditional Spanish word for bullfighting - at the arena on Sunday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe first bullfight held in the Plaza de Acho goes back to 1762, when the Spanish still ruled much of South America.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Plaza de Toros de Acho hosts an international bullfight season during the months of November and
