They also said the proposals by producers in the area of Internet re-use of TV episodes and films were unacceptable.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The AMPTP made no response to any of the other proposals that the WGA has made since July,\" writers said in a statement.\u003cbr/\u003eThe strike is the first walkout by writers since 1988. \u003cbr/\u003eThat work stoppage lasted 22 weeks and cost the industry more than US 500 (m) million dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe first casualty of the strike would be late-night talk shows, which are dependent on current events to fuel monologues and other entertainment.\u003cbr/\u003eDaytime and soap operas, which typically tape about a week's worth of shows in advance, would be next to feel the impact.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking from Los Angeles at the premiere of \"Margot At The Wedding,\" actor Jack Black said he wouldn't be going to \"talk shows to promote movies because all the talk shows have writers on them pretty much.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe strike will not immediately impact production of movies or prime-time TV programs.\u003cbr/\u003eActor John Malkovich explained his production company would be effected more by development scripts.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We've been waiting for the novelist, the writer of the script to finish her novel.
