six-wheeled rover landed at 0505 GMT in Meridiani Planum, believed to be the smoothest, flattest region on Mars. \u003cbr/\u003eIt lies 10,600 kilometers (6,600 miles) and halfway around the planet from where Opportunity's twin, Spirit, landed on January 3.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Wednesday, Spirit developed serious problems, cutting off what had been a steady flow of pictures and scientific
