Various of hippopotamuses \u003cbr/\u003eIt's a weighty issue - what to do with a pod of hippopotamuses living in Colombia.\u003cbr/\u003eTwo South African experts on Wednesday began studying how to deal with the giant African animals which were brought to Colombia to live on the enormous hacienda of late drug baron Pablo Escobar.\u003cbr/\u003eAt least one pair inhabited Escobar's private zoo in the 1980s, but since then, their number has grown to at least 28.\u003cbr/\u003eSome of the animals have escaped to the wild, while others still live on the property which passed to state hands and became a park after Escobar's death in 1993. \u003cbr/\u003eExperts say the hippos pose a threat to people and to Colombia's native animals.\u003cbr/\u003eIn response, the government called in experts from South Africa to study the issue.\u003cbr/\u003e\"You're dealing with an alien species and we probably spend 20 percent of our own budget on controlling alien species.
