As I said the river could be frozen for fourteen and fifteen weeks.  Now imagine a London  at that stage that only had one bridge up until the point the river froze.  So really the river freezing brought both parts of London together  and they used that river because it was not owned by anybody to celebrate London coming together.They would have this massive fair that would last maybe six or seven weeks. \u003cbr/\u003eVisitors can pick up hand made Christmas gifts from over 25 stall holders. \u003cbr/\u003eOn the south bank of the River Thames Shakespeare's globe theatre is hosting the annual 'Frost Fair'.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Frost Fair originates from the freeze of 1564 when the people of London took to the ice on the Themes for fairs and entertainment on the water. \u003cbr/\u003eDavid Marshal, Director of exhibitions at Shakespeare's Globe theatre says the freezing of the river brought both parts of London together  and people would celebrate London coming together with music and entertainment. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Frost Fairs on the River Thames in London all took place upstream from the Old London Bridge.\u003cbr/\u003eThe fairs were common between the 1500s and the early 19th century.\u003cbr/\u003eDavid Marshal says Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was a central part of 16th century and actors and the acting company's would have been involved in the entertainment on the river. \u003cbr/\u003eMany fair goers would gather on the ice to enjoy craft stalls, games theatre performers acting the latest plays.\u003cbr/\u003eThousands flock to the South Bank to enjoy theatre performances, traditional music and hand crafted gifts.\u003cbr/\u003eVisitors can enjoy the daily theatre performances including gladiator battles by drama students.\u003cbr/\u003eSusanne Archer a  drama student and gladiator fighter says the gladiatorial fights they perform are based on  Roman plays that the main stage(In Shakespeare's Globe Theatre)  would have
