Pan of boat sailing along the water, buildings in the background\u003cbr/\u003eImagine living in a home where robots vacuum your carpets, press your clothes and even mix you a cocktail. \u003cbr/\u003eWell now wealthy house-buyers can get a slice of high-tech living in Dubai.\u003cbr/\u003eServants could be a thing of the past for some rich home owners.\u003cbr/\u003eNow so-called 'smart homes' are being built that can draw your curtains, brew your coffee and change the lighting in your rooms.\u003cbr/\u003eConstruction firms in Dubai are offering such hi-tech homes, targeted at the wealthy residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).\u003cbr/\u003eThey offer lifestyle choices that until now have only been seen in science fiction films.\u003cbr/\u003eSome apartments can even offer robot dogs to entertain the children and to go on patrol while you're at work, photographing intruders and emailing the images directly to the police. \u003cbr/\u003eOthers will have robot bartenders serving up everything from a cappuccino to a cocktail. Simply tap in an order and the machine will swing into action.\u003cbr/\u003eBut smart homes don't come cheap, with some costing in excess of $3 million (US) . Their walls conceal hundreds of metres of cabling that connect every electrical appliance to a computerised mainframe.\u003cbr/\u003eLight, motion and temperature sensors then feed information into the system allowing you to control it by a touch-screen computer or remote.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd as well as taking direction from you, smart homes do a bit of  thinking for themselves. Air conditioning units, for example, can turn themselves down when sensors indicate a house is empty.\u003cbr/\u003eBut perhaps the biggest lure for buyers is that smart homes can be controlled when you're out and about. \u003cbr/\u003eGreat for people on the go.\u003cbr/\u003eRemote access technology allows you to monitor your home while you're away: or even contact it to prepare for your arrival.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd what happens if the whole system breaks down? Can you return to traditional methods of control?\u003cbr/\u003eWell, there is a central control unit in the building itself which can override any of the features that are in the building.\u003cbr/\u003eBut will everyone like the idea of a robot controlled future?\u003cbr/\u003eSome people think it is a good idea for working people, while others are worried about private
