They're doing their best for a chance at Friday-night fame on the field before cheering hometown fans. \u003cbr/\u003eThey play to win for the team, the school and the town of Griffith, about thirty miles southeast of Chicago. \u003cbr/\u003eEvery player and every position is important, including the kicker.\u003cbr/\u003eScott Reese is one of three kicker's on the Griffith High team. He lines up and kicks like the other guys, usually up the middle and through the goalposts. \u003cbr/\u003eThere's only one difference. Scott is nearly blind, barely able to see the ball he kicks. The six-foot, one-inch tall senior started out as a lineman, but it didn't work out.\u003cbr/\u003eHe was determined to make it as kicker, and he says his team mates helped make it possible.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: \"My teamates have been very supportive....Whether I make a kick or not, they're always there for me.....they're pattin' me on the back or talkin' to me right afterwards...everybody's just trying to get me motivated and help me out.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Scott Reese, field goal kicker.\u003cbr/\u003eEven his coach and teamates are a little surprised by Scott's determination...not just to be part of the team, but also to play.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: \"....He had to find a spot where he could fit in. He just didn't want to be a guy standing on the sidelines. To tell you the truth I might have just said 'Hey Reese, why don't you just get some balls and kick. Try that for once. See if there's anything else you can do.' Cause he's always askin' me things.
