(Sept. 6)      \u003cbr/\u003e [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]    \u003cbr/\u003e It was the first time that Rafael Izquierdo got to testify publicly about his efforts to bring \u003cbr/\u003ehis nearly five year old daughter back to Cuba. \u003cbr/\u003eThe girl's mother won a lottery to come the US legally, but lost custody of the girl after \u003cbr/\u003e trying to commit suicide. She wants the girl reunited with her father, but she dealt a \u003cbr/\u003e bombshell when she accused him and his lawyers of fabricating testimony -- letters and \u003cbr/\u003e photos purportedly designed to show that he was connected with the girl, even though he \u003cbr/\u003e was working in Cuba as a farmer. \u003cbr/\u003eOn the stand, the father identified one of the disputed letters as his\u003cbr/\u003e (sot:in court) \u003cbr/\u003eQ: Did you write this letter\u003cbr/\u003eA: This is mine, It's my handwriting (via interpreter)\u003cbr/\u003eEarlier, he told the judge of his regular visits with the girl, saying a bond is growing\u003cbr/\u003e(sot Rafael Izquierdo)\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm doing well with my daughter, her sister is doing pretty well with her little sister, yanara, also want to say.\" \u003cbr/\u003eBut he is opposed by Florida's child welfare agency and by Joe Cubas, a wealthy \u003cbr/\u003esports agent who wants to adopt the girl -- arguing that since he is the current foster \u003cbr/\u003eparent, it's less disruptive \u003cbr/\u003eThe trial could last for several more weeks.
