engineered to kill insect say that they reduce the need for heavy doses of pesticides.\u003cbr/\u003eEnvironmentalists and several European countries are concerned that pollen from these crops is harmful and also killing butterflies.\u003cbr/\u003eBut U-S Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman in Washington on Tuesday, said the United States will push forward with developing the real potential of biotechnology.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking before an audience of environmentalists, lobbyists and lawmakers, U-S Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman extolled the benefits of  biotechnology.\u003cbr/\u003eGlickman announced an independent scientific board that would review the genetic process.\u003cbr/\u003eHe believes genetic brands will increase yields, decrease the use of pesticides and hopefully even rid the world of hunger.\u003cbr/\u003eBut it is not only consumers that need to be made aware of the benefits.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Glickman several European countries are letting their fears override the potential benefits of genetically modified crops.\u003cbr/\u003eThis is hampering trade.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE:(English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Having myself just come back from France a couple of weeks ago, I can assure you that trade in these issues, genetically modified organisms, is looming very large in deed over the US-European trade relations in all extremely concerned that failure to work out these bio-tech issues in a sensible way could do deep damage in our next trade round, and effect both agriculture and nonagricultural
