farmers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe activist is leading an anti-globalisation crusade, aimed at getting the World Trade Organisation to acknowledge the needs of individuals like farmers in decisions and dispute settlement practices.\u003cbr/\u003eBove has repeatedly criticised the WTO for lack of openness and for shutting out those affected by WTO decisions, such as unions and non-governmental organisations that represent groups like Europe's independent farmers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Frenchman rocketed to fame by destroying a partially constructed McDonald's in Millau, France, two years ago as part of his campaign against globalisation.       \u003cbr/\u003eOn Sunday, he led another protest in front of the same McDonald's, demanding the French government take action to help French farmers suffering from sanctions imposed by the United States on 116 point eight (M) million US dollars worth of European goods as part of a beef export dispute with the EU.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1999, the United States imposed 100 percent punitive tariffs on several European products, including Roquefort cheese, in retaliation for an EU ban on American beef produced with growth hormones.\u003cbr/\u003eBove has demanded the French government and the EU reach a decision on the taxes, which Roquefort producers say have cost them a total of three (M) million francs (410-thousand US dollars). \u003cbr/\u003eBut French agricultural authorities in the past told Bove he would have to wait another six months to a year for tests on the effect of the growth hormones on humans.\u003cbr/\u003eBove, who has become a hero for French and international anti-globalisation protesters, was sentenced to three months in prison in March for damaging more than one-thousand genetically altered plants in southern France. \u003cbr/\u003eHe and his group, the European Farmers Coordination, have vowed further action if measures against genetically altered crops are not
