Mid shot of Tsvangirai speaking \u003cbr/\u003eZimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Wednesday rejected an African Union decision to keep South Africa's president Thabo Mbeki in charge of efforts to resolve Zimbabwe's political crisis.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking to reporters at his home in the Zimbabwean capital Harare, the leader of the MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) said he would not participate in talks about forming a government of national unity with President Robert Mugabe's government unless an additional mediator from the African Union was appointed.\u003cbr/\u003eTsvangirai also pointed out the that the resolution on Zimbabwe passed by the African Union at their summit in Sharm el-Sheikh \"endorses the concept of a government of national unity without acknowledging that the MDC, as the winner of the last credible election on 29  March, should be recognised as the legitimate government of Zimbabwe.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe opposition leader's comments came a day after the AU summit concluded with a resolution reconfirming South Africa President Thabo Mbeki as mediator.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Our reservations about the mediation process under President Mbeki are well known,\" he said. \"Unless the mediation team is expanded ... and the mediation mechanism is changed, no meaningful progress can be made towards resolving the Zimbabwean crisis.\"\u003cbr/\u003eTsvangirai has repeatedly called on Mbeki to step down from his mediation role, saying the South African president's refusal to publicly criticise Mugabe amounts to appeasement. Electoral officials said Tsvangirai did not win a clear majority and scheduled a runoff against second-place finisher Mugabe.\u003cbr/\u003eState-supported violence against opposition members forced Tsvangirai to withdraw days before Friday's runoff.\u003cbr/\u003eMugabe held the vote anyway, despite international condemnation. He was declared the overwhelming winner on Sunday and immediately held an inauguration ceremony, sparking widespread international condemnation.\u003cbr/\u003eZimbabwean state media, meanwhile, focused Wednesday on reports the government was willing to talk and prominently showed official tallies from last week's one-candidate presidential runoff. \u003cbr/\u003eThe prominence given to the
