legalise marriage and adoption for same sex couples.\u003cbr/\u003eSaturday's event, entitled \"March for Everyone\", attracted several thousand people in Paris and cities such as Lyon and Marseille.\u003cbr/\u003eDemonstrators were asked to adhere to a dress code of blue, white and pink - aimed to put a spin on the French tricolore flag's traditional colours.\u003cbr/\u003eOpposition to full-fledged gay marriage in France has generally centred on the impact on the traditional family.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the protesters taking part in the Paris march was Xavier Bongibault, president of the \"Plus Gay Sans Mariage\" organisation, which represents homosexuals against gay marriage.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said that Hollande's plan would undermine the foundations of society.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We're organising this demonstration to say 'no' to same sex marriage and adoption and thus against making marriage unnatural and thus de-structuring of society.\"\u003cbr/\u003ePresident Francois Hollande said he would enact his \"marriage for everyone\" plan within a year of coming to power this May.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, vocal opposition from religious leaders, some politicians and parts of rural France has divided the country.\u003cbr/\u003eThough a recent survey showed 61 percent of French favoured gay marriage, it showed only lukewarm support for adoption for same sex couples - down from over half to 48 percent.\u003cbr/\u003eThough France would become the 12th country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage if parliament
