it is built around an abandoned nuclear reactor.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd for 70 U-S dollars a day, visitors to the \"Nuclear Wonderland\" will be able to enjoy  all the traditional trappings of shops, hotels and restaurants as well as a rare inside  look at the heart of a nuclear plant..\u003cbr/\u003eFrom the outside, the \"Nuclear Wonderland\" looks like any other nuclear plant - bland,  unappealing and certainly not the place to take the family for a day out.\u003cbr/\u003eBut this is one  factory which is hoping to attract big spenders.\u003cbr/\u003eTen years after the governments of Germany, Belgium and Holland decided to abandon  a joint project to build the nuclear reactor, a Dutch businessman came up with a novel  idea for its future.\u003cbr/\u003eHenny van der Most decided to turn the eyesore into a place of fun - a unique theme  park.\u003cbr/\u003eFrom next week the \"Nuclear Wonderland\" will offer its visitors hotels, tennis courts,  swimming pools, shops, and places to dance and eat - all of this built inside the  complex without changing the facility's appearance.\u003cbr/\u003eMembers of the public can already visit all the intricate parts of the reactor.\u003cbr/\u003eFollow the signs of the mascot \"Nucleus\" and visitors are taken through steel doors,  long hallways and deep below the container that would have held the nuclear material.\u003cbr/\u003eThe whole facility has an eerie feeling about it - the temperature is cool, the walls are  blank and the machinery awesome.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd if the surroundings become too much visitors can take a break and a bite to eat in  the massive reactor hall.\u003cbr/\u003eThe failed project cost taxpayers almost five billion dollars US,  but not everyone thinks  the money has gone to waste.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (German)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Because we in the Netherlands live only one kilometre from the German border and  because of the prevailing wind direction, if anything happened it would happen right over  our house. But the security measures here are so great that as far as we're concerned  the nuclear reactors can stay here. But they haven't and we will see what happens but  everything that I've seen here is extremely impressive.
